When we come to getting a new driver it is important to get it fitted with the right shaft. Most people appreciate that those with faster swing speeds normally need a stiffer shaft. However, PGA professional and fitting expert Thomas Devine is keen to stress that things aren’t quite that simple.
If a launch monitor tells us our swing speed is 90mph that isn’t the only factor that we need to consider. Is it a smooth swing throughout? Or is it smooth in the backswing and before accelerating into the downswing and impact?
As Thomas demonstrates, we can easily use the wrong type of shaft for our golf swing so it’s important to seek the guidance of an expert fitter.
