The most popular brand for waterproof golf clothing is Galvin Green, which is popular amongst professionals and amateur golfers. However, the majority of their garments are priced at the premium end of the market, meaning they may not suit every golfer's requirements. Whether you choose to wear trousers under your waterproofs is down to personal preference. Some golfers choose to wear them with no base layer or ‘regular’ golf trousers underneath, and others like to wear a base layer, especially if they’re planning on visiting the clubhouse after completing the round. If the weather is temperamental, as it often is in the UK, we would recommend wearing trousers underneath your waterproofs, so you can remove the outer-protective layer if you need to do so.

Golf jackets don’t have hoods because they can hamper your game in a few different ways, the first of which being they can obscure your peripheral vision. By having your hood up, you’re also hampering your fluidity of movement in your shoulders, neck, chest, and head, so you could struggle to hit a good shot. Instead, many players opt for golf caps and visors as they don’t hinder your vision, and on really rainy days you can use a golf umbrella.
